How to Use – Step by Step
- Step 1 – Prepare the skin: Clean and fully dry the application area. For oily skin or cream residue, use a cotton pad with a little isopropyl alcohol – this significantly extends electrode life.
- Step 2 – Position the electrodes: Peel off the protective film and press the electrodes onto the desired skin area (over the painful area for TENS, on the muscle belly for EMS).
- Step 3 – Connect & treat: Plug the 2 mm pin connector into your TENS/EMS device and start treatment as instructed in the device manual.
- Step 4 – After use: Carefully unplug, slowly remove the electrodes from the skin and immediately stick them back onto the protective liner. Store in the resealable pouch in a cool, dry place.

Please read the user manual of your TENS/EMS device carefully before first use.
- Never rinse the electrodes under running water or fully soak them – this damages the hydrogel and adhesive layer.
- If adhesion weakens: simply dab a single drop of water onto the gel surface and let it absorb briefly. Alternatively, the Promed Tensive Contact Gel can be used for even better adhesion and conductivity.
- After each use, immediately stick the electrodes back onto the protective liner and seal in the pouch.
- Store in a cool, dry place – ideally in the refrigerator to extend life and conductivity. Avoid direct sunlight and heat.
- Do not apply electrodes over wounds, inflammation or irritated skin.
- Do not use near the heart, throat, eyes or over metallic implants.
- Pacemaker patients or users with other electrical implants should only use TENS/EMS electrodes after consulting a doctor.

How do I clean and store the electrodes correctly?
Don't clean the electrodes themselves – clean the skin before each use. Skin oil and cream residue are best removed with a cotton pad and a little isopropyl alcohol – this significantly extends electrode lifespan. Never rinse the electrodes under running water; this destroys the hydrogel. After treatment, immediately stick them back onto the protective liner and store sealed in the pouch in a cool, dry place – ideally in the refrigerator.
Are the electrodes suitable for sensitive skin or allergy sufferers?
Yes. The Promed Fabric Electrodes are latex-free and hypoallergenic and therefore suitable for most skin types. For very sensitive skin or known skin allergies we recommend a small skin compatibility test on an inconspicuous area before first use.
Where do I place the electrodes for TENS or EMS?
For TENS pain therapy place the electrodes near the painful area – either directly over it or on either side. For EMS muscle stimulation place the electrodes on the muscle belly you want to train. Detailed placement recommendations can be found in the user manual of your Promed TENS/EMS device.
What if the electrodes lose their grip?
Dab a single drop of water onto the gel surface – do not rinse, just moisten lightly. This refreshes the hydrogel. For even better adhesion and conductivity we recommend Promed Tensive Contact Gel as an alternative. If adhesion remains weak or stimulation is uncomfortable, the electrodes are worn out and should be replaced. Can I use the electrodes with other manufacturers' devices?
Yes, provided the device uses the standard 2 mm pin connector. This connector type is standard on most TENS/EMS devices. If in doubt, check your device specifications or contact our customer service.
